Meet the Founder

Stacy Ghazi, Founder, Bags For Books

Some people find a cause. Others are born into one.

Stacy Ghazi entered this world as an orphan. From birth to orphanage, from orphanage to foster homes, from foster homes to adoption. She learned early what it means to face life's most fundamental questions without answers. What will I eat. Where will I sleep. Does anyone see me. Does anyone care.

Those questions never left her. They became her compass.

A serial entrepreneur and lifelong philanthropist, Stacy built a life defined not by what she was given, but by what she chose to give.

As an infant, before adoption found her, there was no one to mother her, so she became the mother to herself. And when she became a mother to her own children, it became the greatest gift of her life. It is also what made looking away impossible.

When she traveled to Madagascar and walked through villages where children had no shoes, no clean water, no classroom to sit in, she didn't see strangers. She saw herself.

She saw a child waiting for someone to show up. So she did.

Now she mothers the world the only way she knows how: by showing up for the children still waiting for someone to.

Stacy carries a torch. Not for recognition. For the ones still waiting in the dark.
